It's time for another participation points opportunity!
Today's subject is deviance and social control in relation to teenagers. Teenagers often have a reputation for deviant behavior, but the degree to which this is true can be quite different.
Your assignment is to recall examples from either your own teenage years or that of your parents or friends. Your examples can range anywhere from someone adopting a new style that others found strange or someone getting arrested for a felony.
If you have a good example from your own teenage years but are uncomfortable with it, you can say it was a friend of yours, plenty of people will have examples of their friends and relatives.
You should:
1. Describe the events, detailing the deviance and the consequences.
2. Explain why this deviance might have occurred using your knowledge of Differential Association and Control Theory.
3. Discuss what could have been done to prevent or mitigate the deviance.
